SMARTS Goals

Did you know:

If you only think about a goal (dream) you have a 19% chance of achieving it.

If you think and write it down, your success rate increases to 45%.

But, if you think, write and share the goal your success rate increases to 80%.

To ensure your goal is achievable, it needs to be SMARTS.

What are SMARTS Goals?

SMARTS Goals is an acronym for specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound and synced objectives.

Specific – The goal should be well defined, specific with a clear objective.

Measurable – Progress must be easily track-able by identifying how it will be measured.

Achievable – Goals can be challenging and ambitious, but they must be attainable within the time frame set.

Relevant – The overall objective needs to be realistic and relevant within the availability of resources, knowledge and time.

TimeBound – Deadlines should be set at the beginning to ensure the goal is accomplished.

Synced – Others may need to be involved to complete the goal so they need to be aware of what is involved and where they are needed along the way.
