In November we won the award for Best Culture from Investors in People.
Investors in People are the leading independent global measure for colleague engagement. It’s the Nobel of going to work every day. We strive to be the best team-led business in the country, So this award feels like the ultimate validation of our mission.
But what, when the champagne corks have settled, does it actually mean?
Why does a business that essentially stores stuff in warehouses and delivers it in trucks (it’s a very long way from here to Hollywood!) go to such enormous lengths to have a workplace culture worthy of such recognition?
The answer, in the end, is quite dull. We just want our customers to choose us because they trust us.
To consistently perform you must be an iron-strong and super-healthy business shot through with innovation and resilience. To do that you need people who are motivated to give their all. You have to invest in them.
Investors in People has championed, for 35 years, organisations and individuals who share the goal to Make Work Better.
On the night, the CEO Paul Devoy said: “The stories we tell tonight will become the standards others reach for tomorrow. When you invest in people, you make work – and life – better.”
Here’s what they said about us specifically:
“Involvement Group went from Gold to Platinum with Investors in People by embedding a data-driven, people-first culture, achieving a staggering increase in profit per head while making work better for their people.
It’s a joy to work with Involvement! They are ambitious, creative and committed to improving. They have a very clear vision of the culture they want to create and the diversification and growth they want to achieve, and continue to put in place innovative, connected practices to deliver this.
Using the high-performance plan highlights the leaders and teams that are performing to be able to share their good practice both in-house and externally. It also enables swift action and measurement of the impact of this on performance. Involvement can now prove the link between their practices, high performing teams and organisational success.
We’ve seen year-on-year improvements in people’s perceptions of and buy-in to Involvement’s strategy and people practices: 97% now feel encouraged to perform to their best and 98% say it’s a great place to work.
When asked what advice they’d give to other organisations aiming for Platinum, Involvement are clear:
“Connect your colleagues to a purpose. Break down your long-term goals and show each person how what they do supports the bigger picture. Then guide them to improve individually and as a team.”
In conclusion, Involvement’s journey is a powerful reminder that culture isn’t static — it evolves, improves and grows when organisations commit to clarity, ownership, and purposeful development.
They’re not just investing in people — they’re building a business where everyone has the tools, mindset and motivation to make work better.”
Finally, from me again, in tearful Oscars acceptance style:
This company started from a front room in a little village in Warwickshire. Doing essentially the same thing we do now. It just goes to show what you can achieve.
Thank you everyone at Involvement.
