The terminology of an A-Game is usually linked to sport. It’s an expression used in reference to an individual or team performing to the best of their ability, and therefore producing the best performance possible. ‘Being on your A-Game’ means to do your best, to perform at the highest level that is possible for you, it’s demonstrating peak ability through high performance.
Understand that ‘being on your A-Game’ is only going to enhance and benefit the outcome of the task or situation at hand, whatever that may be.
Being on your A-Game means you’re ‘in the zone’, you can perform a task at the optimum level of your physical abilities, mental capabilities or both. It’s about understanding what makes you perform to the best of your ability; it’s about acknowledging what foundations need to be in place to deliver the highest performance possible.
It’s about you understanding you, what makes you tick and what you need to be on your A-Game.
Being on your A-Game also has a positive effect on others, it’s infectious! If you are performing at full capacity, you influence others, you will bring the best out of colleagues meaning they will perform better.
Think about the difference in completing a task with a colleague who is in a ‘Can’t Be Arsed’ mood, compared to that of someone who is ready to take on the world!
